There are 21 excellent WordPress resources that you can use to get help.

You will need to know where to look for help when you first start using WordPress.

There is a lot of information to learn, even though the platform is easy to use and accessible for beginners. You will need to learn about installing, configuring and creating content, as well as security and performance.

How and where can you find answers to your questions as a newbie?

This article will tell you how to do it. We’ve listed some useful resources below to help you with WordPress questions and to learn how to use it.

1. Ask Questions and Get Answers from Other WordPress Users

Forums are a great place to start if you want to find out more about WordPress. You can ask questions about WordPress here and get answers from other forum users or specific staff members. There are several options for this type of service.

WordPress.org Support Forum

The official forums are one of the best resources to get help with WordPress. It’s not just the documentation on WordPress.org that you can find there, but also the other content.

Volunteers spend their time scouring the forums for different topics. The forums are also available in other languages.

There are two options: search the forums to find an answer or post your question. You will need to create an account (free of charge) and log in for the second option. WordPress is a long-standing platform (20 years old, baby!). It’s likely that someone has already encountered the same problem as you and asked about it. It’s always a good idea to begin with a Google search.

search wordpress support forums

You can try a Google search if the WordPress.org site does not provide satisfactory results. site:https://wordpress.org/support/. Only the WordPress support URL will return results for your keyword.

You can still ask your question if you cannot find the answer to your search. Click on the Create Topic link at the top right of the subforum that you wish to post. You must be logged in before you can do this.

You will be taken to the following form:

Add a title and a description. You can also add tags. Post and then wait for responses. Please be sure to provide any additional information that other users may ask you for (except anything sensitive), and be courteous to those who want to help.

If you need help with a specific theme or plugin, you can contact the developer directly through the support section. The View support forum button is available on both the theme and plugin pages.

Third-Party forums

There are many other online communities that you can contact for assistance besides the official support forums:

Stack Exchange — Stack Exchange is primarily for developers. It’s therefore best suited to very technical questions. This forum is also a good place to start if you’re looking for existing code and answers. Check out the StackOverflow WordPress forum as well. Reddit — the front page of the Internet has communities on pretty much every topic. WordPress is not surprising to be amongst them. The most popular subreddits to check out are /r/Wordpress/, /r/ProWordPress/, and /r/WordpressPlugins/.LinkedIn — This professional social network also has some groups you can turn to to find WordPress help. There are WordPress Web Designers and WordPress Developers. Advanced WordPress, WordPress help, and WordPress are just a few examples. These are only a few. Search for more, including groups that are focused on specific topics, such as SEO, performance, and security.

You can also check out Quora. This is a popular Q&A site where users rate answers.

WordPress Slack Channel

Anyone can join the official Slack channel of the WordPress project. This is not technical support, I cannot stress that enough. Stick to the above support forums if you have questions about the WordPress platform or how to do something on your site.

Slack allows you to communicate in real time with the WordPress team. There are channels for different topics and areas, such as core development, polyglots or marketing. WordCamps are also covered by the channels.

To join, you simply need to go to Slack’s main page and register an account. Be sure to be logged in to your WordPress.org account. The Slack page creates a new Slack account automatically. The login code will be sent to the email associated with your WordPress.org account.

You can join any channel to work with others and make WordPress better. WP Developers Club is another Slack channel that you should check out. This is a community of WordPress code wranglers.

2. Online Publications and WordPress blogs

You may already be familiar with one of the many blogs that provide WordPress tutorials. You are probably reading this article on one of many blogs that provide helpful tutorials for the WordPress platform.

One of the most attractive things about WordPress is how much content is available.

There are also a number of blogs that have WordPress as the main focus. A simple Google search will allow you to find answers for almost any topic.

3. WordPress Online Courses and Classes

There are WordPress support resources which teach you to use the platform from the front to back.

Meetups

WordPress meetups are one of the first places you can go. There are now meetups in 115 different countries.

You can join them very easily via Meetup.com. This is where you also find the map above. The WordPress.org website also links to the Meetups section under Community.

Both online and offline events are listed. Sign up for a free account and start participating!

You can meet other WordPress users, make contacts, get help, share your experiences, and ask questions in these groups and events. Local groups that meet face-to-face are the best. Face-to face is often the best way to get to know others and to find direct support.

You can find out about local events on the WordPress dashboard. The WordPress Events and News Widget displays a list of local meetups, including links to more information.

WordCamps

WordCamps are unique among meetups. WordCamps are more structured meetups with different presentations about topics related to the WordPress ecosystem.

WordCamp US and WordCamp Europe are the highlights of every year. (You can see past WCEU events by clicking here, here and here) And, starting in 2023, WordCamp Asia.

There are smaller WordCamps happening all over the world. WordCamp Central has a list of camps both near and far.

This is a great way to experience the event. WordCamp Berlin was my first WordCamp before I made the European Edition a regular event.

Contributor Day

Contributor Day is a special day that should be mentioned when looking for WordPress help at WordCamps. Contributor Days are usually held one day prior to the conference and are open to everyone who wants to help contribute to WordPress.

You don’t need to have any coding or experience. Just register and show up. Work with others on improving WordPress. You can also learn more about WordPress.

Different teams will be leading the day, including accessibility, community and core, documentation, polyglots, marketing, etc. You can participate in workshops for new contributors, or you can do bug tracking, translations, documentation writing, and other things.
